Compassionate Care of the Dying, via: - whole person - whole family - whole journey - whole team Why is Hospice Care so important? - We Christians believe the soul is immortal; Our eternal happiness depends on the soul's condition at the end of our life on earth. - We need to be at peace with God, people & self before we die. - The help we give a soul to achieve this end is of eternal value, the greatest act of charity. What is the situation in Asia? There is a growing awareness of the increasing need of hospice care But not nearly enough ? We need more resources allocated. What are the challenges for us Catholics? To give more of ourselves:- time,energy,money. 1) to awareness of the need for Hospice Care inside & outside medical profession 2) to promote training in hospice care: not just for the hospice ward 3) to promote investment of resources: personal and institutional.
