| Introduction The Charter for Health care workers lays down the following in relation to the catholic medical doctor. His profession calls him to be a guardian and servant of human life. This must be done through a valiant and caring presence at the side of the sick. Health case activity is based on an interpersonal relationship and faith. It is a meeting between trust and conscience, The trust of one who is ill and suffering and who entrusts himself to another man who can help him in his need and who comes to his assistance to care for him and cure him. When we, catholic doctor met a sick person, we have to adopt an attitude of sincere sympathy, suffering with him and his family through a personal participation in the concrete situations for each individual sick person. Infirmity and suffering are phenomena which, analyzed in depth, go way beyond medicine and touch upon the essence of the human condition in this world. The medical doctor must be aware that it is precisely here that the whole of his humanity must be involved and absolute dedication is required of him. This is the mission which characterizes him and it is a call that the medical doctor listen to, personified in the suffering and imploring face of the sick person who is entrusted to his care. The medical doctor is like the Good Samaritan who goes to the side of the sick man and makes himself his neighbor through understanding and sympathy, in a word through his charity. In this way the medical doctor takes part in the love of God as one of neighborhood, and in this way is infused with the love of God for man. This is the healing charity of Christ, who passed by doing good and healing (Table 1). And at the same time it is charity towards Christ who is present in every sick person. Also the medical doctor, through his therapeutic duty, takes part in the pastoral and evangelizing action of christianity. Clinical Pastoral Care in Catholic Hospital Purpose We, catholic medical doctors, must be participated in the works of God for healing sick peoples suffering from illness. Also, We, catholic medical doctors, have the purpose to reveal the power of the healing charity for patients by Jesus Christ for himself. For the care of the physically and mentally sick persons, catholic doctors give them endless efforts, service, and pray and would like to let them know whom relieving their illness with faith of the God. We, catholic medical doctors, educate continuously new medical know- ledges and techniques for health care workers and try to adapt charity of the Jesus Christ for caring the patients with love and faith. Also, we, catholic medical doctors, should not study any research which will be harmful to respect of the human life, although we have to try to make a rehabilitation and prevent of the illness. We, catholic medical doctors, let the patients know healing of their illness by love of God and try to become Christian family. We try to help terminal patients who are waiting for the death to maintain the human dignity and hope for Heaven. Finally, as catholic medical doctor, we try to make ourselves understand and have sympathy for our neighboring poverty patients and provide them with warm medical hospitality. Role and Duty of the Catholic Medical Doctors In this way the medical doctor is really with Christ and his profession is identified with this communion with Christ himself, and thus the medical doctor unites with God Father in the same way as a son comes to his father, and his professional love becomes converted into the action of the Love of God, which is the Holy Spirit. For this reason, the catholic medical doctor is the person who is always guided by the Holy spirit. From the Holy Spirit one grasps all the emotion which must exist between the medical doctor and his patient, all the humanization of medicine and all the need for realization and permanent training, became the Love of the Holly Spirit makes the medical doctor a person who is above all open to others. This is what he has committed himself to do before God with his profession of Faith, which means his medical job. Pope Pius XII declared that the catholic medical doctor must place his knowledge, his powers, his heart, and his devotion at the service of sick person. Catholic medical doctor must understand that he and his patients encounter each other placed beneath the Will of God. Medicine is a reflection of the goodness of God. Thus we come to characterizing the fundamental qualities of the catholic medical doctor under six headings: awareness of responsibilities, humility, respect, love, truthfulness and with God. Awareness of responsibility leads him to work with the sick man and to be aware that a medical doctor is the person who points out suffering illness to be followed. Humility tells him that the medical doctor protects his patients with pray, humility reads him to see himself as the relative of the sick person and his family. Respect and love in relation to the sick person is a fundamental remedy for care of the patients. The Catholic medical doctor always respect the patients who are poor or rich and also handicapped person, and treated them with love of God and become a one family unit. In management of the suffering patients, catholic medical doctor are carefully carrying out therapeutic procedures as if treating his own family; father or mother. At last sick person got a good recovery and also, stabilized his mind with confidence of the medical doctor. Truthfulness contains in itself being aware of the great trust which is given him by the sick person with regard to revealing his innermost problems and difficulties. Truth is required in both diagnosis and treatment not only at a physical level but in an overall sense, that is to say from a mental, social, psychic and spiritual point of view. The catholic medical doctor must never carry out human experiments on the sick person if he knows that the danger is not proportional to the benefits which he is seeking to obtain. The medical doctor must inform the sick person about the evolution and development of his illness, tell him the truth about his condition, and all this at the appropriate moment and in the ways that are the most suitable. We, catholic medical doctors, always think that there is existed with God, Holy Spirit in management of suffering patients and we are going to thoroughly treat the sick persons with love of God. This will reflect the replacement of the treatment for patients to God Charity. Therefore the medical doctor must have fear of God and be very humble, no proud or selfishness, he must be charitable with the poor, calm, benevolent, friendly and not angry. He must not reveal secrets, not talk too much, not be a gossip, not flatter and not be envious. As catholic medical doctors, we have been chosen to participate in Christ's mission to heal sick person. We will be called to given an account of how we made use of our God given talents. We, catholic medical doctors, have the primary responsibility of the care of the patients with medical and mental support and also supporting their own family. Reviewing of the miracles of healing by Jesus Christ, "Jesus Christ always says your faith makes healing your illness." We, catholic medical doctors, always look toward our faith to Jesus Christ during the management of the patients and treat them with deep pray in every time, and everywhere. Also we try to care the handicapped who are escaped from their family and isolated from our society. They have a right of enjoying their lives and dignity of their lives. For the achievement of successful treatment for the handicapped, it absolutely needs love, victim and service of physicians. We catholic medical doctors always believe and ask to him and pray "What can I do for the patient's ?" It will be certainly obtained God reply from our requests. Clinical Care in non-Catholic Hospital In both non-catholic hospital and non-religious private hospital, the respect of human life, and dignity are treated the same sequence of the catholic hospital. Primary policy of the treatment of the suffering patients in protestant hospital, they have also respect of human life and treatment with love of God. In other view point of religion, they have actively participated in the charity hospital for treatment of poor patients and foreign labor sick persons and sometimes served their works at the prison and for isolated islands which are not appropriate medical health service. In the non-catholic hospital, it needs absolutely medical doctor's love, victim and also respects the human life with their deep considerable mind. Conclusions Gods gives us life and it is an absolute right of God, and we, catholic medical doctors, ought to have duties to keep human life healthy and recovering them from their illness with Christian Love and also need to evangelize them with good Samaritan spirit. |
