Pope Francis Has Chosen the Dicastery’s New Undersecretaries
Linda Ghisoni for the Section of the Laity, and Gabriella Gambino for the Section of Life

Today, Pope Francis named as new Undersecretaries to the Dicastery two women, Linda Ghisoni to Section for the Laity, and Gabriella Gambino to the Section for Life.

Linda Ghisoni, born in the province of Piacenza, is married and has two daughters. She is a lawyer and has worked for the Court of the first instance and the Court of Appeals for the Vicariate of Rome as a notary, defender of the bond, hearer, and judge.

She has held various positions at the Tribunal of the Roman Rota of the Holy See and, from 2013 to 2016, she collaborated with the then Pontifical Council for the Laity as an expert in the field of studies on the laity in the Church. Author of scientific publications on Canon Law, Linda Ghisoni is currently a judge at the Vicariate Court of the first instance as well as professor of Canon Law at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Roma Tre Law Faculty.

Gabriella Gambino, from Milan, is married and has five children. She is an expert in bioethics, specialized at Milan’s Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in the Institute directed by Cardinal Elio Sgreccia. Professor and researcher at the Luiss Methodology of Social Sciences Institute, Dr. Gambino is the author of many publications on issues related to marriage, the family and life. She has also been a scientific expert of the National Bioethics Committee of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

From 2013 to 2016, Gabriella Gambino also collaborated with the Pontifical Council for the Laity, while teaching bioethics at Tor Vergata University and the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family.
