From its inception, every year CHAI organizes an annual meeting with its member institutions to provide information, knowledge and trends of current health scenario and to discuss way forward to serve the nation in a better way.

The 74th National Health Convention and AGBM was organized by CHAI at the campus of Rajagiri Vidyapeetham, Kochi, Kerala on 23rd and 24th September 2017. The theme for the NHC was “Resources – Identify, Synergize, Optimize” as part of the overall 5-year theme of “Action 2020: Repositioning for the Future”. The topic covered identifying and utilizing existing resources better, mobilizing new resources and optimizing both new and existing resources to serve the needy. Around 1000 representatives from CHAI member institutions across the country participated in the NHC.

Along with several other dignitaries and resource people, Most Rev. Vincenzo Paglia, President, Pontifical Academy of Life (PAL), Vatican participated in the programme as Chief Guest and delivered the inaugural address. His excellency said that health care ministry is a noble ministry and serving the sick is like celebrating the Eucharist beyond the Altar. He appreciated all the sisters and fathers who are performing the noble ministry in the name of God, which is greatly helpful to humanity.

On the 2nd day of the National Health Convention, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia talked about ‘The Magna Carta of a Humanized, Affordable, Rational and Quality Care’ where he emphasized the importance of ‘accompaniment’ at all stages of life. He mentioned also that all the 3 recent Popes have talked about the prime importance of Palliative Care.
