This year on 11th Feb, we celebrate the 25th World Day of the Sick.
World Day of the Sick is an observation started by Pope John Paul II as a way for believers to offer prayers for those suffering from illnesses. The day coincides with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Amazement at what God has accomplished: ‘The Almighty has done great things for me….'” (Lk 1:49).
The day is followed by the observance of the ‘Healing Ministry Week’ in India. We continue the tradition of observing the week ecumenically. The Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI), National Council of Churches of India (NCCI) and the Catholic Healthcare Networks in India, including The Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) have selected this year’s Healing Ministry Week Theme: “Partnering Together in the Healing Ministry of the Church”.
