This Advent, join MaterCare International in retracing the journey of Mary and Joseph, a journey of courage, faith, and love. Through the Walk to Bethlehem Challenge, we’re inviting you to walk 140,000 steps and help us raise $14,000 to bring safe motherhood and life-saving care to mothers and babies in need around the world.
Why We Walk
Over 800 women die every day from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Many walk miles, often while pregnant, to find help that may never arrive.
Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem reminds us that every expectant mother deserves care, dignity, and compassion. This Advent, we walk in solidarity with mothers everywhere who face their own difficult journeys to bring life into the world.

- Walk 140,000 Steps: roughly the distance Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem. Every step is a prayer for mothers and babies in need.
- Start a Fundraising Page: invite your family, parish, or friends to sponsor your journey. Set your own fundraising goal and share why you’re walking.
- Give or Get Sponsors: every donation brings us closer to our shared goal of $14,000 to support MaterCare’s vital mission.
