Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Lord has called me to accompany you in your noble vocation as Catholic physicians, and I embrace this appointment with humility and joy. I thank Cardinal Farrell and FIAMC’s leadership for their confidence and encouragement.

Today’s world presents both technological marvels and moral dilemmas. AI, gene editing technology, end-of-life care—these are not merely technical questions, but profoundly human ones. As physicians guided by Catholic values, we embody the Gospel call to serve others with compassion and dignity. May we remember St. Paul’s words: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17).

Amid scientific advancement and ethical challenges, let us be rooted in Christ, the Divine Physician, who heals not only the body but the soul. I hope to accompany you spiritually through the guidance of the Church’s teaching while being open to dialogue with the world. Together, let us ask for the wisdom of the Holy Spirit through the intercession of the Virgin Mary and St. Luke the physician-apostle.

In faith and fellowship,
Fr. Joseph Tham, LC
