PROMESSE DU MEDECIN CATHOLIQUE Approuvée par le Comité Exécutif de la FIAMC,  et le Conseil Pontifical pour la pastorale de Santé Moi, Dr.______________________, je promets solennellement :
  • 1. De continuer à améliorer mes capacités professionelles, afin de donner à mes patients les meilleurs soins possibles.
  • 2. De respecter mes patients en tant que personnes humaines faisant passer leur intérêt avant toute considération politique ou économique, et de les traiter sans préjugé racial, socio-économique, ethnique ou sexuel.
  • 3. De défendre et protéger la vie humaine depuis la conception jusqu’à la mort naturelle, croyant que, transmise par les parents, elle est créée par Dieu, et qu’elle a un destin éternel qui Lui appartient.
  • 4. De refuser de devenir un instrument de l’application violente ou oppressive de la médecine.
  • 5. De contribuer à la santé publique en encourageant une politique de la santé respectueuse de la vie, de la dignité, et de la nature de la personne humaine.
  • 6. De coopérer à l’application de la loi sauf pour des raisons d’objection de conscience dans le cas où les droits humains et surtout le droit à la vie ne sont pas respectés par les lois civiles.
  • 7. De travailler avec franchise envers toute personne, indépendamment de sa foi religieuse.
  • 8. De donner gratuitement une part de mon temps aux soins des pauvres.
Pour réaliser ces objectifs en tant que médecin catholique je promets aussi :
  • 1. De reconnaître la Parole de Dieu comme inspiration de tous mes actes, d’être fidéle aux enseignements de l’Eglise, et de former ma conscience professionelle en accord avec eux.
  • 2. De cultiver une relation filiale avec Dieu, nourrie de priére, et d’être un fidéle témoin du Christ.
  • 3. De pratiquer les principes moraux catholiques, en particulier de ceux liés à l’éthique bio-médicale.
  • 4. D’exprimer la bienfaisance du Christ dans ma vie, dans mes relations avec les patients, les collégues, et la société.
  • 5. De participer à l’évangélisation du monde souffrant en coopération avec le ministère pastoral de l’Eglise.

  • 1. To continually improve my professional abilities, in order to give my patients the best care I can.
  • 2. To respect my patients as human persons, putting their interests ahead of political and economic consideration, and to treat them without prejudice arising from religious, racial, ethnic, socio-economic, or sexual differences.
  • 3. To defend and protect human life from conception to its natural end, believing that human life, transmitted by parents, is created by God and has an eternal destiny that belongs to Him.
  • 4. To refuse to become an instrument of violent or oppressive applications of medicine.
  • 5. To serve the public health, promoting health policies respectful of life and of the dignity and nature of the human person.
  • 6. To cooperate with the applications of just law, except on grounds of conscientious objection when the civil law does not respect human rights, especially the right to life.
  • 7. To work with openness towards every person, independently of their religious beliefs.
  • 8. To donate part of my time for free and charitable care of the poor.
In order to achieve these goals, as a catholic Doctor, I also promise:
  • 1. To recognize the Word of God as the inspiration of all my actions, to be faithful to the teachings of the Church, and to form my professional conscience in accord with them.
  • 2. To cultivate a filial relationship with God, nourished by prayer, and to be a faithful witness of Christ.
  • 3. To practice Catholic moral principles, in particular those related to bio-medical ethics.
  • 4. To express the benevolence of Christ in my life, and in my relationships with patients, colleagues, and society.
  • 5. To participate in evangelization of the suffering world, in co-operation with the pastoral ministry of the Church.
