As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bend before me.
and every tongue shall give praise to God.
On the 2nd of November 2025, the Women’s World Cup was won by India. In a country where female foeticide is prevalent, women and children are looked on as a burden. Women are barely given any rights in many parts of the country. Eve teasing, molestation, and rape are regular features on the news—it doesn’t even surprise us!
Being a woman means you’re told to work in the kitchen, slaving away at the stove, once you attain puberty—married to a man of your family’s choice and working for him and reproducing with zero aspirations and goals of your own life! I have seen these women—as neighbors, as friends, as patients!
I was blessed to be born in those rare societies that were liberal and forthcoming with women’s education and to have parents who motivated me to follow my dreams with zero pressure!
As a minority community, Christians and practicing faithful ones are rarely seen in media or on the “scene.” Proclaiming our faith is often seen as the forced conversion done by the colonizers of my country centuries ago (part of the reason I grew up Catholic). So a female cricketer (a rarity), Christian, was standing before the social media proclaiming her faith, belting out scripture, and thanking Jesus for a fantastic run, which led to the team of India defeating the reigning champions and moving to the finals on Sunday and finally winning the tournament
A year ago this very same sportstar was dismissed from a stadium as claims were made that her father was holding illegal religious conversions—prayer meetings! She was dropped off the national team and was trolled endlessly on social media platforms for her faith!!
But she persevered and proved her talent and skills with sheer hardwork and like she says in the clip below — Jesus !
Every Indian Christian’s heart swelled with pride!
As Jesus described, we should realize how awesome our God is, and the faith we have can not just score centuries and win matches but move mountains. A faith so strong that we know whatever we do or wherever we are — we just have to give it up to the Lord and focus on being better humans every day!
there will be rejoicing among the angels of God
over one sinner who repents.”
Let us be that lost sheep or the missing coin and watch the Lord rejoice when he finds us waiting for Him, especially this Advent! Let us be proud of our faith and work to be better humans!
Amen!
