Thomas W. McGovern, M.D.

Tom has performed over 26,000 cases Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Reconstruction at Fort Wayne Dermatology Consultants since arriving in 2000. He has been married to Sally for 29 years, with whom he has/is raising seven home-schooled children, and who get a break from his ‘Dad jokes’ when he speaks at conferences.  He gets to share creative ideas on the CMA national board, chairs the annual CMA Leadership Training Meeting (and trivia nite), and loves to give dynamic presentations on finding joy in medicine, responding to human suffering, applying knowledge of the temperaments, and exploding myths and correcting misconceptions about Jesus’ passion and death. After graduating with a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University, he completed his M.D. at Mayo Medical School.

He paid back his U.S. Army medical school scholarship by serving eight years on active duty where he trained in dermatology, performed two years of biological warfare research (vaccine development), and ran the dermatology clinic at Fort Riley, KS. He received his surgery training at Yale University School of Medicine.  He actively engages as a member of the Fort Wayne Chapter of Legatus and as a Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

He is ‘living the dream’ co-hosting Doctor, Doctor, the official weekly radio program and podcast of the CMA that airs on the EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network and multiple podcast sites, and soon on the Augustine Institute’s FORMED app.  He is working on his first book for Our Sunday Visitor due out in early 2021.  When not working clinically or apostolically, he sleeps, runs, reads, travels, photographs beautiful locations and people (usually related to him).
