Following the discussion of the initiative paper “Access to abortion is a human right” submitted by D’66 by the House of Representatives, Cardinal Eijk has written a statement on behalf of the Dutch bishops’ conference. He points out, among other things, the fundamental right to life, also of unborn children, and describes the necessary essential backgrounds and moral consequences.
The board of the Catholic Foundation for Medical Ethics and its working group Network of Catholic Healthcare Professionals in the Netherlands support this statement by Cardinal Eijk and the Dutch bishops.
