Hundreds of lay leaders from the different dioceses under the Archdiocese of Manila are expected to converge for the National Laity Week Celebration in the Philippines which will take place on October 4, 2025. The event carries the theme, “What is an Empowered Laity”.

Every first week of October, the National Council of the Laity of the Philippines is having this kind of activity wherein lay leaders will meet to commemorate the event. For this year’s whole day activity, different speakers will tackle various assigned topics which center on the role of the laity in relation to the Jubilee Year 2025 with the sub-theme on the Laity as Pilgrims of Hope.
And with just 94 days left before the end of the Jubilee Year 2025, it is hoped that the event will ignite the spirits of the Catholic faithful across the archipelago to be more abreast of their responsibilities for the renewal of the church and a much renewed commitment both as evangelizers and missionary disciples.
One of the speakers is Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, the Vice President of the National Council of the Laity of the Philippines and also of the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Philippines. He is tasked to re-connect all the important documents like the Lumen Gentium, Christifideles Laici and the Evangelii Gaudium.
These documents specifically empowered the lay in relation to their unique prophetic, priestly and kingly roles. Also on the single biggest accorded to the lay which is to “sanctity the world”.
The venue of this year’s event will be hosted by the Diocese of Taguig in Metro Manila.
