For the month of June 2026, the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Philippines with the inspiration as well as and in-lined with the objectives from the FIAMC and together with the National Council of the laity of the Philippines are holding a major event. This is the conference which exclusively focused on “Cancer”. This will be held on June 6, 2026, Saturday at Rajah Park Hotel, Cebu, Philippines.

What makes this event unique is because the organizers are looking at delivering the topics on a holistic approach that includes both the physical and spiritual dimensions of a human being. In the morning, the two invited speakers, all physicians, will discuss the normal human anatomy and the different types of cancers, especially on the top 10 most common cancers in the Philippines. For the afternoon sessions, an oncologist, a psychotherapist and a priest will tackle varied issues affecting the persons with cancer including the preventive aspects of cancer and the psycho-spiritual needs of the patients.
Based on the 2025 report from the National Cancer Society of the Philippines, there were 22,900 cancer deaths, which is nearly 14% of the cause of death in the country. This makes cancer as the second leading cause of death among Filipinos after ischemic heart diseases with cerebrovascular disease as third.
So, it is hoped that after this one-day event, all participants will come to know the most basic and updated knowledge on cancer and dispelling all myths about this health problem. Most of the expected attendees will be hundreds of lay leaders from dozens of lay organizations, associations and movements with the special participation from the Catholic doctors groups. A holy Sacrifice of the Mass will culminate the event.
