Bishop Valentin Pozaić Day
and the pilgrimage of the Croatian Catholic Medical Association to Marija Bistrica
on the occasion of the International Day of Appeal to Conscience and the 35th anniversary of the founding of the HKLD,
15-17 May 2026.

The Croatian Catholic Medical Society is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and is organizing a pilgrimage to Marija Bistrica on May 15-17, 2026.

At the same time, our Society celebrates International Conscientious Objection Day every year on May 15th , on which occasion we will organize a Symposium on Conscientious Objection, at which our distinguished members and guests from abroad (members of the FEAMC Board of Directors) will present a series of lectures highlighting the professional and ethical challenges related to the right to conscientious objection, not only for healthcare professionals.

As May 15th is also the anniversary of the death of our long-time spiritual leader, Mons. Dr. Valentin Pozaić, auxiliary bishop of Zagreb, the HKLD Board of Directors has decided that from this year onwards, that day will be marked as Bishop Valentin Pozaić Day . For years, Bishop Pozaić has supported the initiative of the HKLD Section of Pharmacists and Medical Biochemists to mark the Day of Appeal to Conscience on May 15th every year with appropriate lectures, in which he himself has participated on several occasions. We believe that this act will be the best way to preserve the memory of our spiritual leader, and especially by gathering in his Marija Bistrica, the shrine where we declared him an honorary member of HKLD in 2021.

We invite you to gather in as many numbers as possible, and with a spiritual program, thank the Lord and the Mother of God for their protection during our first 35 years of activity.
