PRESIDENT OF HKLD IN ŠIBENIK AT THE CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF ST. JAMES
On Friday, July 25, 2025, on the feast of St. James, the patron saint of the Šibenik Cathedral, the president of the HKLD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sc. Rok Čivljak , participated in the solemn mass celebration in the Cathedral of St. James in Šibenik, and the Eucharist was led by the Bishop of Šibenik, Mons. Tomislav Rogić, who also marked the ninth anniversary of his episcopal service in the Šibenik Diocese. Along with Bishop Rogić, the concelebrants were the Vicar General of the Šibenik Diocese, Mons. Tomislav Subotičanec , the Bishop’s Secretary, Don Ivica Bašić , the Cathedral Parish Priest , Rev. Krešimir Mateša , and numerous other priests.
Prof. Čivljak joined his brother in the episcopal assistance for which members of the Brotherhood of St. James are regularly responsible: the president was in charge of the bishop’s staff ( baculum ), and his brother Lazar was in charge of the bishop’s hat ( pileolus and mitre ). Participation in this Eucharist was not only a spiritual event but also a symbol of preserving our roots and the tradition that binds us to our city, especially in a time and in a world that often moves away from its spiritual values.
The liturgical singing was led by the Mixed Cathedral Choir under the expert direction of Prof. Jelena Mikulandra with organ accompaniment by cathedral organist Nikola Lovrić Caparin, who was joined by Prof. Pavao Mašić , organist of the Church of St. Mark in Zagreb, also a native of Šibenik, contributing his talent to this solemn liturgy.
After the mass, Prof. Čivljak was joined by the president of the HKLD branch in Šibenik, Dr. Željko Perković, and after congratulating the bishop on his anniversary, the two exchanged thoughts with the vicar general, Msgr. Subotica, on the further development of the Šibenik branch and the improvement of pastoral care in healthcare in the area of the Šibenik diocese.
This solemn Eucharist was a witness to the beauty of religious community and the preservation of Christian tradition in our lives.
