Strona główna Episkopat Pope at WYD to receive book of prayers with entries from sick…

A book of prayers to be presented to Pope Francis in Krakow during World Youth Day (WYD) is composed of entries submitted by thousands of sick people in which they offer their spiritual support to WYD volunteers.

The book is being compiled in a project carried out by young people organising the meeting with the pope in Poland as well as volunteers who work at parishes, hospitals and nursing homes on a daily basis.

„This is the first initiative of its kind as part of World Youth Day”, project coordinator Lukasz Jarocki has told PAP.

The official number of declarations in which sick people express solidarity and offer prayers for WYD volunteers is 2,000, but thousands more offered their support orally, according to Jarocki.

The project’s organisers received the entries through regular mail and electronically, not just from Poland but also from Canada, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Italy and Eastern Europe.

„We contacted all kinds of facilities, including hospitals, to gather the declarations. Our project was well received”, Jarocki told PAP.

The book of prayers will be described in public by WYD volunteers in the presence of Pope Francis before the Way of the Cross ceremony on Friday, July 29. (PAP)
