OPEN LETTER TO AUSTRALIAN HEALTH BODIES REGARDINGGENDER-AFFIRMING INTERVENTIONS

The leadership of the Catholic Medical Association of Australia (CMAA) are endorsing and promoting an open letter by lead author Dr Louise Kirby, a general practitioner and member of the Australian Doctors Federation and Genspect, and co-authored by several subject matter experts including psychiatrists, Dr Catherine Llewellyn, and Dr Alison Clayton. It calls for the urgent acknowledgement and response to the recent international and local developments in the field of youth gender medicine, including the Cass Review, US Health and Human Services  review of treatment for paediatric gender dysphoria and the recent judgement in Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Re Devin,2025 (FedCFamC1F 211) It will be sent to all major Australian health bodies, including medical colleges, healthcare institutions and regulatory authorities. An amended version will also be sent to Catholic Health Australia and the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference on behalf of the CMAA. Please consider being a signatory and support this important initiative.
